Devlog 6: Start of production sprint 2

Hello everyone, and welcome back!

We're back after the Easter break and this is the first week of the 2nd production sprint. 2 more weeks and every core feature should be implemented. 4 more weeks and the game should be finished. We're not nervous at all. To the trenches!

Over the break a new member was added to our team: please welcome Jake Wheaton! Jake is a student sound design who will produce sounds and music for our game. We're proud to already present this teaser for the main menu theme:

Personally, we love it.

Other things have been added to our game as well. Our artist Yari finished the platform we are going to use in the level:

He also made the Golden Box pickup. There will be only one pickup like this in the game, and players will need to have it in their possession in order to win the game. We added this pickup because it adds a competitive edge to the game: it forces players to fight eachother to get their hands on the pickup, instead of each going their separate ways.

As you might've noticed from the screenshots, we've added a background to our game. We're still polishing the final look of the level.  Before the Easter break we also had some frame rate issues. Part of these have been resolved now. There are still things to improve upon though.

Furthermore, Hannah has started working on animations for our characters. For now, only the walking animation for Bo (the big guy) has been implemented in Unreal.

Additionally on the coding side, the countdown for when the level starts has also been implemented:

That's all for today, see you next week!
